Global Pension Index 2026: What’s the Investment Angle?

What makes a pension system adequate and sustainable? And what role do investment governance and asset allocation play in achieving these objectives?

The 2026 Marsh CFA Institute Global Pension Index provides an annual assessment of pension systems around the world, comparing their adequacy, sustainability and integrity. While the Index offers valuable insights into the strengths and challenges of pension systems, the investment perspective is a key driver and deserves further attention. Investment governance and asset allocation, including the role of private assets, are important factors in determining long-term pension outcomes.

In this one-hour webinar, organised by CFA Society Netherlands, we will explore these dimensions and key findings from the 2026 Index.

Program

  • Introduction and moderation – Alwin Oerlemans, APG Asset Management
  • Key findings from the 2026 Global Pension Index – Graham Pearce, Marsh
  • The importance of investment governance – Alfred Slager, VU Amsterdam and ABP
  • The role of asset allocation in pension outcomes – Roelof Salomons, University of Groningen and BlackRock
  • Q&A – Moderated by Alwin Oerlemans

The webinar will provide an opportunity to learn and discuss how pension design, investment decisions and governance can contribute to more adequate and sustainable pension systems.

The webinar is open to CFA Society Netherlands members and investment professionals across the global CFA network.
