About Us


CFA Society Netherlands is a non-profit professional association that represents the interests of its members, mostly Register BeleggingsAnalist (RBA) and Chartered Financial Analysts (CFA) charterholders and candidates in the Netherlands. The society is part of the global network of societies established by the CFA Institute, the world's leading association of investment professionals.

Our mission is to contribute to the advancement and stability of the investment community in the Netherlands by setting standards, raising ethics, improving competence, and sharing knowledge. We equip our members with the tools to better serve their clients, and to master the challenges of our constantly changing profession.usive society, these programs have greater reach and make more impact.

CFA Society Netherlands as we now know it was the result of a merger in 2018 between VBA (“Vereniging voor BeleggingsAnalisten”, founded in 1961) and CFA Society Netherlands (founded in 1999) to become one of the larger societies affiliated with CFA Institute, with over 2.100 members, 200 active volunteers, close to 20 committees, a staffed office of five employees and a six chaired board: a vibrant and dynamic community of investment professionals. The society provides a range of services and resources to its members, including networking opportunities, research and quant competitions, professional development programs and events, and advocacy initiatives. Four times a year it publishes the VBA Journaal to its members; a magazine with actualities and themes around investment, including interviews, opinions and science papers. In a biweekly newsletter over 4.000 people are kept up to date on upcoming events, courses and developments.

Unique to CFA Society Netherlands is 1) their offering of the RBA Program, an in-depth modular executive education program to further your investment knowledge, and 2) the recognized MiFID II Stay Compliant Program, an annual course to maintain, update and assess professional competence of investment professionals, in line with MiFID II guidance and regulations.

CFA Society Netherlands is also committed to promoting diversity and inclusion in the investment industry, and works to create a welcoming and inclusive environment for all of its members and the industry as a whole. The society actively seeks to promote diversity in its membership and leadership, and supports initiatives that aim to create a more diverse and inclusive investment industry.

Since the merger, CFA Society Netherlands has a broad membership base, comprising of different designations and different types of membership. The purpose of our inclusive society continues to be creating an environment in which all investment professionals are represented and have the opportunity to participate and contribute.

Being a society open to all investment professionals regardless of their educational background has ensured that we can make more impact for our members and the investment management industry. Our inclusive society promotes diversity, which leads to increased innovation as new perspectives and ideas are brought to the table. As we grow, we have the potential to positively impact a wide range of areas. We currently have educational programs for all groups in the sector. We are also putting extra effort into training on topics that will become increasingly important in the future, such as ESG and technology. Because we are a diverse and inclusive society, these programs have greater reach and make more impact.
